PRESS RELEASE

LAUNCH OF THE CARBON NEUTRAL COMMERCIAL SECTOR RENEWABLE ENERGY SCHEME (TIME-OF-USE TARIFF)

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) is pleased to announce the launch of the CEB Carbon Neutral Commercial Sector (CNCS) Renewable Energy (RE) Scheme.
Under this phase of the Scheme, the CEB will consider applications from Commercial Customers registered under the Electricity Tariff Codes 225 and 225A.
Eligible Customers may opt for either the Net-Metering or Gross-Metering modality. The Net-Metering (energy offsetting) option will be offered along with an unbundled Time-of-Use Tariff structure, which shall be subject to the approval of the Utility Regulatory Authority (URA).
For the initial phase of the Scheme, the CEB intends to accommodate up to 70 MW of solar photovoltaic projects integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Mauritius. The BESS shall be designed to meet at least the customer's energy demand during peak hours. The on-site or off-site hybrid solar PV system shall be designed and sized to meet up to 150% of the customer's annual energy requirement, subject to a maximum capacity of 4 MW per site.
Eligible project developers interested in participating in the Scheme are strongly encouraged to carefully read and take full cognizance of all relevant details, which are available on the CEB website at https://ceb.mu
Applicants are required to download and duly complete the prescribed Application Form. All applications, together with the required supporting documents and information, should be submitted at any CEB Customer Service Centre as from 23 February 2026.
For further information, please contact the CEB Corporate Planning & Research Department on 404 2000.
